BioAs a maker of unusual art, I create two-dimensional work with fibers and traditional paint, ink, and graphite. I hand-build ceramics pieces and make other three-dimensional mixed-media works. My artistic journey has been one of transformation and exploration, merging many diverse skills and experiences into a tapestry of creativity that defies conventional boundaries.
My mixed-media works delve into the delicate balance between the seen and unseen realms. Through layers of texture, color, and form, I invite viewers to uncover hidden depths and meanings. My work is a testament to the power of perception and the beauty of what lies beneath the surface of nature and spirit. My ceramics express a deep connection to primitive amulets and effigy figures. Each piece carries a sense of ancient mysticism, invoking the spirits of long-forgotten civilizations or yet-to-be-realized forms. I build vessels and portals that serve as gateways to other worlds, blending the tangible with the intangible. Before embracing my artistic calling, I had a successful twenty-year career in financial services. I worked and consulted in some of the world's largest banks, trust companies, insurance agencies, and private businesses. My role as a consultant with KPMG took me to Dallas, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and New York, as well as many other US cities. Despite the financial rewards, I found the work to be soul-killing, lacking the fulfillment I craved. In 2024, I find myself untethered from the many responsibilities of managing a bustling home full of children and pets and discharging the accompanying social roles. With my newfound freedom, I am poised to dive into my creative pursuits with renewed vigor. I am ripe to create using the toolkit stocked through years of gathering and studying, ready to explore new horizons and push the boundaries of my personal artistic expression. |
